General Questions

  1. What are the system requirements for the PM FASTrack® software?
    • 600 Mhz Intel Pentium III processor or equivalent
    • Windows XP (32bit x86), Windows Vista (32bit x86), Windows 7 or Windows 8 (32bit and 64bit)
    • 128 MB RAM (256 MB recommended)
    • 100 MB available disk space
    • Administrator privileges for installation (if you are not the computer owner)

    Note: The PM FASTrack® software is not compatible with or supported in any Mac environment.

  2. What is the latest release of the PM FASTrack® software? Can I get the latest release for free?
    If you are planning to take the PMP exam on or after August 31 of 2011, you need to use version 7.0.4. The most current release for the current PMP exam is version 6.0.2. For more information and to update to the current version, click here
  3. Should I upgrade to the latest version of the PM FASTrack® software?
    If you have version 7.0.4, then you have the most current version of the software for the PMP exam on or after August 31 of 2011. The ONLY people that should update their FASTrack software are users that have any version prior to 6.0.2. These users should update to 6.0.2.   4. Will I lose my test history if I update to the newest version of the PM FASTrack® software?
    No. You will not lose your test history if you have a product from the same version (ex. You have PM FASTrack PMP v6.x.x, and you are updating to another version 6.x.x) and you do not uninstall the software when updating. Test History between version 6 and version 7 will NOT transfer.
  5. Is there a product tutorial available for PM FASTrack®?
    There is currently no tutorial specifically built for version 7. Most of the functionality is outlined in the Help files in the application directory (default location is: C:\Program Files\PM FASTrack v7\help).
  6. Do I need to be connected to the Internet to register the PM FASTrack® software?
    Normally, the registration of the PM FASTrack® software occurs automatically through an Internet connection. Your PM FASTrack® software can still be registered without an Internet connection, however a manual registration will be necessary. To manually register the software, contact customer support at 952-846-4484 during our normal business hours, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM CST, Monday through Friday.
  7. Do I need to be connected to the Internet to USE the PM FASTrack® software?
    You do not need to have an Internet connection to use the PM FASTrack® software.
  8. Do I need to have administrator privileges to install and register the software?
    Yes. You need "Administrator" or "Power User" rights to install PM FASTrack®. For more information and to determine if you have sufficient rights, click here
  9. Can I get a complete list of all 1,500 PM FASTrack® questions? Can the questions be printed?
    No. For security reasons, the 1,500+ questions contained in the PM FASTrack® database cannot be printed, packaged or exported to a master file for any reason.
  10. Will the PM FASTrack® software work on a computer running Windows 7?
    PM FASTrack® version 7 is supported on Windows 7.
  11. Can PM FASTrack® be shared?
    No. PM FASTrack® is a single-user application. It may not be transferred, re-sold, shared, or ever used by more than one person (the original user) in any way.   12. Can I purchase a multi-user license for the PM FASTrack® software?
    RMC does not offer a multi-user or corporate site license for PM FASTrack®. A single-user license must be purchased for each user of the software. However, RMC does offer bulk discounts for companies wishing to purchase as few as five (5) licenses.   13. Why are two installations allowed instead of only one?
    Two installations are allowed to help people who have the ability to study in two different places (home and work).
  14. Are two installations guaranteed?
    No. The second installation is allowed, but not guaranteed. RMC will not offer full or partial refunds to customers with one working installation.
  15. How long is my license to the PM FASTrack® software available?
    The PM FASTrack® Exam Simulation Software is valid for exactly one (1) year from the date of initial registration. The PMP® exam changes regularly and we do not want people to study using old or outdated versions of the software. Furthermore, PMI allows one (1) year from the date of the application to pass the exam. If you feel that you need more than one year to study for the PMP® exam, you should consider taking one of our instructor led courses.   16. My license has expired and I have not yet passed the PMP exam. Can I get an extension to the PM FASTrack® software?
    RMC offers a single 3-month extension available for $75.00. For more information, click here.
  17. I am thinking about purchasing the PM FASTrack® software through eBay or Amazon.com. Is this a problem?
    It is not a problem if you are purchasing new software that has not been used. However, if the software for sale has been used by someone else, it would be a violation of the license agreement and international copyright law to sell or use PM FASTrack® software that has been previously used. You will most likely have problems installing and/or registering the software if it has been used already. Amazon.com is a legitimate reseller of our products and they do not sell used PM FASTrack® software. However, we have seen several independent sellers post used software for sale using Amazon.com's Marketplace or eBay. Unless you are purchasing the software directly from RMC, Amazon.com, or a different legitimate reseller, until you receive the CD ROM, there is really no way to determine whether or not one or both of the installations have been used. RMC Project Management will not support users of the PM FASTrack® software if they are using the software in violation of license agreement.
  18. Can I install or use the PM FASTrack® software in a library or lab setting?
    No. The PM FASTrack® software may not be installed on one computer where more than one person would be using it. Every person who wants to use the software or view the question database would have to purchase their own license serial number.   19. I am done with the PM FASTrack® software (took the exam and passed), and I have one installation left. Can I give the software away or sell it to someone else?
    No. The PM FASTrack® software may not be given away, sold, or transferred in any way if it has been used.
  20. Can I teach a class or lead a study group using the PM FASTrack® software?
    PM FASTrack® may not be used in a classroom without permission. For example, it:
     
    • May not be projected in class without permission.
    • Questions may not be reprinted without permission.
    • May not be shared. It comes with a single user license.
    • May not be reused or transferred to another individual after use.

  21. Why does RMC need my user information? What is done with the user information that I enter during software registration?
    Since the PM FASTrack® software is a single user license, RMC needs to be able to verify the user of the software. Should you require support for the PM FASTrack® application, RMC will need to verify the information entered into the Product Registration Form. Therefore, if you falsify ANY information entered into a field marked "Required", RMC reserves the right to NOT provide you support for this product. RMC does not share your user information with anyone.
  22. Why am I being asked to enter in a Site Key after installing the software?
    Normally, the registration of the PM FASTrack® software occurs automatically through an Internet connection. If you are asked to enter in a site key, that indicates that your computer is not connected to the Internet or there is something blocking the Internet connection (like a company firewall for example).

    If there is something blocking the Internet connection, version 7.0.4 will automatically send an email to the RMC server requesting a site key. The site key will be automatically generated and you will receive an email back from the RMC server that includes your site key and instructions for entering the Site Key.

    If you are using version 7.0.4 and you are having problems with the automatic site key generation, fill out this form. RMC will contact you with a site key during normal business hours.

    If you are not connected to the Internet, a manual registration will be necessary. To manually register the software and receive a Site Key, contact customer support at 952-846-4484 during our normal business hours, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM CST, Monday through Friday.
  23. During installation I am being asked to enter in a site key. Where do I get the site key?
    If you are using version 7.0.4, you are connected to the Internet, and you are having problems with the automatic site key generation, fill out this form. RMC will contact you with a site key during normal business hours.

    If you are not connected to the Internet, a manual registration will be necessary. To manually register the software and receive a Site Key, contact customer support at 952-846-4484 during our normal business hours, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM CST, Monday through Friday.
  24. The registration of my PM FASTrack® software is hanging up AFTER I enter in all of my user information during a screen that says: "Contacting RMC Project Management Server to process registration. Please wait". How do I fix this?
    This indicates connection difficulty between your computer and the RMC server. We will need to force a manual registration. For more information, click here.
  25. I get an error message saying " Error with the registration of PM FASTrack®. The program is moved or the password is incorrect." What should I do?
    Please email pmfastrack@rmcproject.com with the following information:

    1. Your license number for the FASTrack software.
    2. The error message you see when you try to run the FASTrack software.
    3. Go to your "Start" menu and find the "Computer" or "My Computer" icon. Right-click that icon and select "Properties". Send a screen shot of the window that pops up when you do this.
  26. During registration, I received an error message saying "Invalid Serial Number". What is causing this?
    Most Invalid Serial Number errors result from typographical errors on the part of the user or a common misinterpretation of the alphanumeric characters. Click here for more information.
  27. How can I get technical support for my PM FASTrack® software?
    Technical support can be reached by sending us an email, calling 952-846-4484, or by filling out a Support Request Form.
  28. When is technical support available for the PM FASTrack® software?
    Technical support is available during our normal business hours, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM CST, Monday through Friday.
  29. I am receiving an error that is not listed here. What information does RMC need to troubleshoot my problem?
    Send an email to pmfastrack@rmcproject.com that includes the following information:
    1. Your license serial number
    2. The exact error (Include a screen shot of the error if possible)
    3. A description of the exact point that the error occurs
    4. The make and model of your computer
    5. The operating system of your computer
    6. The "RMCPROJ.ckn" file. (default location is: C:\Program Files\PM FASTrack v6). Open the file (if you are asked to choose a program to open the file, choose Notepad) and copy the contents of the ckn file into your email or include it as an attachment.
